Frequently asked questions on ORAS Pass
What is an ORAS Pass?
An ORAS Pass is a digital reservation token issued by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA). It acts as a pre-registration for walk-in passengers to enter terminal facilities and purchase tickets faster.
Who needs to use the ORAS system?
Who SHOULD use it: Walk-in passengers buying boat tickets at the port.
Who DOES NOT need it:
Passengers who already bought confirmed tickets online directly from shipping lines.
RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) drivers or passengers inside vehicles.
Is the ORAS Pass free?
Yes. Registering for an ORAS Pass is completely free of charge. You will still pay for your actual shipping line ticket and terminal fee at the port booth.
How far in advance should I register?
You should register online before leaving for the port or while en route. Doing it ahead of time saves you from registering on your mobile device inside crowded terminal lines.
Does the ORAS Pass guarantee a boat ticket or seats?
No. An ORAS Pass is a port registration assistance pass, not a guaranteed boat ticket. Vessel seating is still subject to real-time ticket availability from shipping operators at the port.
What do I do when I arrive at the port?
Present your digital or printed ORAS Pass at the designated ORAS validation lane/entry point. Once verified, you proceed straight to the ticketing counters and passenger waiting areas.
Do I need an ORAS Pass if I already have a confirmed boat ticket?
No. If you bought your ticket ahead of time directly from a shipping line (online or via an authorized ticketing outlet), you do not need an ORAS Pass. Simply present your confirmed physical or digital e-ticket at the terminal gate.
How early should I arrive at the port?
PPA recommends arriving at least 2 hours before your target vessel departure time. This accounts for validation checks, security screening, and ticketing.
